The UK Visitor Visa is considered as the most popular way for individuals travelling to the UK for tourism, leisure, visiting family and also for business purposes. It is required for Thai nationals to obtain entry clearance to be able to travel to the UK.

The UK Tourist Visa for Thai citizens can be issued for six months validity, and the UK VFS in Bangkok is authorized by the UK Visa and Immigration to accept all UK visa applications in Thailand.

UK Tourist Visa applicants must be able to show and prove these factors:

  • The applicant is truthfully entering the UK for a limited period of time;; on the first visit, it is advised to stay as stated in the application
  • The applicant is not using the UK Tourist Visa to extend stays and live in the UK by having multiple extensions or successive visits; the UK immigration has the right to refuse entry should there be any suspicion of the intended visit
  • The applicant will not seek employment in the UK, voluntary or with pay; Strictly employment is prohibited
  • The applicant will not produce goods or provide any form of service to the public; any business-related actions are unacceptable and restricted
  • For applicants attending an educational course in the UK, it should not be the main purpose for the visit and should not exceed 30 days; a student visa which is in a different visa category shall be required if intention is for study and should be on a tourist visa
  • The applicant should have sufficient funds to cover all the costs on their visit to the UK, without needing access to public funds or employment. If the applicant is being accommodated by relatives or friends in the UK, they also have to provide a statement quoting that they are presently in the UK and intend to provide support and accommodation to the visa applicant;
  • The applicant should have the means to leave the UK at the end of their stay; financial capability is a main concern of applicant and sponsor if any applies

UK Tourist Visa requirements for Thai citizen:

  • Purpose to visit the UK temporarily, or in a period of no more than six months;
  • Purpose to leave the UK after the allowed period of stay;
  • Must show proof of sufficient funds to finance the cost of return or onward travel;
  • Must show proof of funds to finance the cost of staying in the United Kingdom;
  • Must show proof of strong ties to Thailand, or valid reason to come back;

For sponsored visa application:

  • Invitation letter from a UK citizen or permanent resident
  • Sponsorship letter from a UK citizen or permanent resident
  • Proof of stable employment by the sponsor
